Held in the wonderful Botanic Gardens of Cordoba, the 13th International Sephardi music festival in Spain showcases the different traditions of Sephardic culture. This year’s programme of events includes concerts by Spanish and international artists, seminars, wine-tasting, cooking demonstrations, dance workshops, a children’s storytime and a documentary screening.
When in Cordoba, you’ll enjoy visiting the Casa de Sefarad for Jewish culture. It’s a beautiful house with an open ‘patio’ or courtyard in the historical Jewish quarter just opposite the old synagogue of Cordoba. Inside you can visit five separate exhibition spaces that highlight the way of life in Spain in the 15th century and document the different paths the diaspora has taken since then. Check the website for details of concerts, book presentations, seminars and storytelling for children. You can also pick up some CDs and crafts in their shop.
And don’t miss out on the Casa Mazal for authentic Sephardi cuisine plus some great Cordoban specialties. You’ll love the courtyard setting. The menu includes artichokes, couscous, lamb, fish, rice dishes and also serves kosher Spanish wines. Sephardi music and poetry recitals are also held frequently here.
