Here is our list of Top 10 University Cities in Spain and why we rate them so highly.
Since we set up in the travel business in the year 2000, we helped hundreds of people explore the Camino de Santiago on foot, by bike, on horse-back and even by motorbike and by car. Here are some of the key routes that made up this scenic and spiritual way. Which one will you undertake and how?
Here at Totally Spain, our eight favourite churches feature the heavy hitters but we have a few surprises too. One is a combination of a palace and monastery, another is a former mosque and we also include Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia which is actually not a cathedral (although mist people think it is!) All eight are located inside UNESCO World Heritage sites so there’s plenty to see and do both inside and outside the walls of these religious monuments.
If there’s one place we recommend our clients visit in every Spanish town, it’s the main square or plaza, often called the Plaza Mayor. Traditionally it’s where bullfights took place and it was often the location for outdoor foodmarkets and theatres too. Today it’s all about the café tables, the buzz, the people and the activities in the square.
Nothing says holidays more than a car, a suitcase, sunglasses, and the open road. And here in Spain, we have a wonderful road infrastructure including shiny new three-lane highways that get you out of the cities plus plenty of those romantic rural roads that snake around the mountain ridges and coastal cliffs when you want them too. We know these driving routes in Spain because we are a Spain-based travel agent. Here at Totally Spain we have been designing itineraries in Spain since 2000 and we love the open road as much as you do!
