Cantabria might not be the first region you think of when you think of Spanish cuisine but within Spain it’s becoming very fashionable to cook with Cantabrian ingredients and many of the local chefs have opened sister restaurants in Madrid to cater for the increase in popularity. We’ve been working from Northern Spain for the past two decades as travel specialists and we love Cantabrian food and want to make it as easy as possible for you to understand it and enjoy it too.
It’s sailing trials time in Santander. With one year to go before the ISAF World Sailing Championships, this year’s Ciudad de Santander Trophy is more important than ever before. We asked Santander resident & writer Pamela Cahill to take her notebook and camera down to the bay. Take it away Pamela!
As you know Totally Spain customises itineraries for individuals and group visits to wineries all over the Spain and Portugal. Last weekend (for research purposes of course!) we went to discover what’s on offer for our wine-loving clients in one of the most charming smaller wine-producing regions in Northern Spain known as the Costa de Cantabria – and we loved it!
One of the powerful draws to visiting the Northern coast of Spain are the Cantabria cave paintings. Being based here in Cantabria, they are literally on our doorstep and we love visiting them and include them in our Northern Spain itineraries. Everybody who visits is moved by the experience. And yes – almost everybody agrees that the paintings constitute the oldest art in Europe.
