What do you think of when you think of Northern Spain? Is it the 40 shades of green? Is it the majestic mountains? Might it be the amazing gastronomy? Or could it be the beaches? Do you even associate Northern Spain with having amazing beaches? If not, then you really should. Northern Spain is a beach lovers paradise. The quantity, quality and variety of splendid beaches to be found in the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia is hard to match. If you fancy a swim or a barefooted stroll along a soft sandy beach, here are a few of our Totally Spain favourites. Beaches we love and know you will too – from buzzing iconic city beaches to little known crowd-free gems. So, let’s dive in and go beach hopping in Northern Spain.
When most of us travel, we want to visit the ‘must-sees’ but we also want to hang out with locals doing non touristy things. It’s hard to strike a balance, so when we plan custom trips for Totally Spain clients (and we’ve been doing this since the year 2000), in addition to highlighting top attractions, we recommend many non touristy things to do in Spain so clients can get a sense of the Spain that we know and love.
At Totally Spain we’ve been living and working in the North of Spain since the year 2000, and always encourage our clients to visit this part of the country out of season when it’s so much easier to get around once the summer visitors have gone home. Here are just some of the things we enjoy doing here in Cantabria every Autumn.
We’re lucky to be based in Cantabria which is home to some amazing museums. When we leave the Totally Spain office (we’re a Spain-based travel agent and specialist in custom travel to Spain since 2000), there’s nothing we enjoy more than visiting these museums in Cantabria’s capital, Santander, and throughout the rest of the region too.
Everybody – from international chefs to the humble pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago – is raving about the North of Spain. But with so much on offer – what’s the best way to see this precious part of Spain? Here at Totally Spain we’ve been planning customised itineraries into Spain since 2000 and being based in Cantabria, we know how to navigate Green Spain, extremely well. Here’s what you need to factor in to your trip
