We all know Milan is different to Rome and Hamburg is different to Munich – but lots of first-time travellers to Spain don’t realise how different Barcelona is to Seville and San Sebastian to Madrid. We’ve been designing itineraries around Spain and Portugal for two decades and many of these trips showcase the diversity in landscape, climate, history, culture, lifestyle and cuisine. Here’s a sense of what to expect as you travel around Spain from North to South and East to West. And as always, Totally Spain is here to assist with your custom Spain tour just as we have done for thousands of travellers like you since 2000.
We’ve visited a huge number of Spain’s best museums since establishing Totally Spain 17 years ago and we always make it our business to check out the cafés and restaurants as well as the exhibits. Here are what we consider to be 10 of the best museum restaurants in Spain, our favourites that we recommend to clients travelling on our custom itineraries – and we hope you enjoy them too!
Nothing says holidays more than a car, a suitcase, sunglasses, and the open road. And here in Spain, we have a wonderful road infrastructure including shiny new three-lane highways that get you out of the cities plus plenty of those romantic rural roads that snake around the mountain ridges and coastal cliffs when you want them too. We know these driving routes in Spain because we are a Spain-based travel agent. Here at Totally Spain we have been designing itineraries in Spain since 2000 and we love the open road as much as you do!
The Basque Country is a coastal region in Northern Spain made of up cities such as the triumphant Bilbao and elegant San Sebastian (plus dozens of small fishing villages) on the coast. Inland there are lots of treats also including the wonderfully un-touristy Vitoria – and the Rioja Alavesa wine region – which is an area that once visited, you’ll want to return to again and again.
Totally Spain asked long-term Riojan resident Tom Perry about visiting La Rioja during the summer. Having worked in the wine exportation business for almost four decades, he knows the La Rioja wine region and the industry better than most. Take it away Tom!
