Visiting Barcelona? Make sure you keep a day or two free to experience a Cava winery, Monserrat Monastery, the Dali Museum and the Costa Brava. Here at Totally Spain, we’ve been planning and organizing custom itineraries in Spain since 2000 and can organise car-rentals, high-speed train tickets & private guides and drivers to ensure you enjoy these day trips in style and comfort. NB Please note we provide this service as part of a wider itinerary including accommodation.
When we started Totally Spain in 2000, we were planning lots of “once-in-a-lifetime” trips to Spain and our job was to make sure that all the “must-sees” were included on each itinerary. So much has changed since then. It’s now so easy to fly into smaller regional airports in Spain and thus many of our clients are actively looking to avoid the “must-see” sights in exchange for something much more personal and fresh. Moreand more they are turning to boutique destinations in Spain.

Inspired by the brand new open-air community theatre in Laroles (in the Alpujarras) developed by Anna Kemp and her team, we’ve decided to compile a list of Spain’s best open air theatres which, for obvious reasons, come into their own in the Summer months. Not only are they places for enjoying outdoor dramatics and music festivals, but many of these theatres are wonderful architectural spaces in their own right. Which one is your favourite?
September is a great time to travel to Spain. It’s much quieter than the peak months of July and August when many Spaniards take their annual vacation. The weather in Spain is still warm enough to take advantage of the wonderful evenings but not so hot as to prevent you from sightseeing in the middle of the day. It’s much easier to secure hotel rooms with sea-views, to visit the popular monuments and enjoy long lazy lunches on outdoor terraces. And it’s when some of the best festivals take place! Living and working here in Spain as we do (Totally Spain is Spain-based travel agent and specialists in custom travel to Spain since 2000), we’re big fans of Spain’s September fiestas and here’s why:-
