To celebrate the brand-new ferry route from Cork direct to Santander, we’ve pulled together 10 Things to See & Do in Santander, one of Spain’s best loved cities on the Northern coast. We live a stone’s throw from here, across the bay in Cantabria, and it’s a joy to showcase what’s on our doorstep. If you want to travel in style, we’d be honoured to design your tailored Totally Spain trip starting out here in Santander, Northern Spain.
We’ve been designing custom trips around Northern Spain ever since Totally Spain started out back in the year 2000. You might not know but we initially set up our business in Vitoria in the Basque Country, which was then an unknown part of Spain. Today, we are still based in Northern Spain in Cantabria, and although we do plan trips for all over Spain and Portugal, we love planning trips around this superb region. To make it even easier for you to see what’s so great, here’s our insider guide on What to See & Do in Northern Spain.
The film crews love Cantabria. Last year it was the Seve Ballesteros biopic. This year it’s the story of Altamira with Antonio Banderas at the helm. We know why it’s so popular because we live here and so if you’ve been thinking about a trip to Cantabria, here are our top travel tips for Cantabria 2015!
We’ve been busy following a number of bloggers trips to Cantabria and are not surprised how much they LOVE the region. They’re not alone. We loved it so much we located our travel business here (Totally Spain has been designing custom trips across Spain and Portugal since 2000!) It’s getting a bit busier here and the season is only just beginning. In addition to the surfers and fans of sailing that are starting to arrive into the bay of Santander, we also have the lecturers and students registering for the UIMP Summer university. Yip, it’s Summertime in Santander
Cantabria might not be the first region you think of when you think of Spanish cuisine but within Spain it’s becoming very fashionable to cook with Cantabrian ingredients and many of the local chefs have opened sister restaurants in Madrid to cater for the increase in popularity. We’ve been working from Northern Spain for the past two decades as travel specialists and we love Cantabrian food and want to make it as easy as possible for you to understand it and enjoy it too.
