September is a fantastic month to visit Spain. Not so hot, not so crowded and when much of the Northern hemisphere is switching on the heating and getting out the boots and sweaters, you are still able to enjoy a day out on the sea or a hike and picnic in the hills.

Cantabria in the Summer Holidays
We’ve been busy following a number of bloggers trips to Cantabria and are not surprised how much they LOVE the region. They’re not alone. We loved it so much we located our travel business here (Totally Spain has been designing custom trips across Spain and Portugal since 2000!) It’s getting a bit busier here and the season is only just beginning. In addition to the surfers and fans of sailing that are starting to arrive into the bay of Santander, we also have the lecturers and students registering for the UIMP Summer university. The Great Cantabrian Outdoors – A Slice of Heaven not to be Missed at the Picos de Europa
As a Spain-based travel specialist, there’s nothing we love more than exploring this amazing country. We (that is Ken and Belen of Totally Spain) have just returned from a Winter weekend break in the Cantabrian Picos de Europa Mountains with our two daughters and friends, Juan and Veronica, and their two young boys. The tourist season is about to kick off there and we were delighted to revisit this stunning part of Cantabria known as the Liebana Valley and see what it had in store for us and our clients. The result was a stunning weekend where we all agreed that the Great Cantabrian Outdoors is heaven made and ideal for visitors of all ages to enjoy. You simply have to go there. It’ll do you good.
