Here at Totally Spain, we’ve organised custom tours and travelled extensively through Portugal. We’ve written guides on the Lisbon region, the Centro region and Porto and the North Region, and now it’s time for the Alentejo! We love planning trips to this region’s amazing beaches, charming medieval cities and spectacular landscapes. And do we need to mention the excellent regional cuisine and numerous wineries? Combine our recommendations for the Alentejo with a Lisbon citybreak or a touring holiday of Spain’s enchanting Extremadura and Andalusia… Continue reading
Here at Totally Spain, we are huge fans of Portugal and love planning itineraries for clients in both countries. Having already written about the Lisbon Region and the Centro Region, today we are going to focus on the Porto & North region that lies South of Galicia and West of Castile-Leon in Spain. Porto is the major city which is the darling of the travel glossies, and of course, Gaia for the winery tours – and we have some great daytrip ideas too!
It’s hard to believe that 20 years have passed since the titanium-clad Guggenheim museum by Frank Gehry catapulted the city to the front pages of all the travel glossies. This amazing museum is still a huge attraction today and the rest of the city has so much to offer also. We love its cuisine. And its bridges. It’s eclectic mix of neighbourhoods. And it’s so close to the Rioja Alavesa wineries and San Sebastian too! Totally Spain was set-up in the Basque Country in 2000 and we have arranged thousands of custom trips here for our valued clients. To encourage you to visit – if you haven’t already been here, we’ve put together this guide to 10 of our favourite things to do in Bilbao…
Nestled in between the cities of Lisbon and Porto and with the Atlantic coast to the West and Spain to the East, the Centro region has everything you need for a perfect midweek break. Here at Totally Spain, we’ve been devising itineraries for Spain & Portugal for over 16 years and we know it won’t be long before the international crowds arrive to explore Coimbra, Aveiro & Belmonte. See it now, we say, while it’s still relatively unknown outside of Portugal.
If you’ve ever thought about exploring Portugal, then please don’t wait any longer – it’s a wonderful country with so much to offer. Here at Totally Spain, we’ve seen the hugely positive shift in the standard and quality of the tourist offering in Portugal over the past decade. And we love designing custom itineraries for our valued clients so they can appreciate the charms of Portuguese food, its architecture, its capital city, its coastline and its interior and it’s wonderful people. In this post we’d like to introduce the Lisbon region that includes Portugal’s capital city and goes north as far as the Central Region of Portugal (which we will cover in a separate guide). The Lisbon region is perfect for a week long break featuring a few days in the capital plus a few daytrips to nearby towns and villages. As you’ll see below, there is an excellent choice to appeal to all tastes and interests.
